Travel across the Atlantic for an afternoon of music inspired by one of the world’s great cultural capitals. Postcards from London captures the grandeur, energy, and character of the city through two iconic works of the orchestral repertoire.
The program opens with Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 104 in D major, “London”, a brilliant and spirited work that reflects the composer’s celebrated visits to the city.
We conclude with Ralph Vaughan Williams’s A London Symphony, a sweeping and atmospheric portrait of the city, from bustling streets to moments of quiet reflection.
