Welcome to our 91st Season - 2016-17

On the heels of a great ten-year celebration, the Hastings Symphony enters a new decade with Capriccio con Spirito - From Handel to Hammerstein! We capriciously embrace our 91st Season with musical spirit and excitement in what promises to be a great opportunity for everyone to enjoy live music.

Joining me as an Assistant Conductor is longtime principal double bassist and recently-retired music educator, Dave Klein. Dave has performed with the Hastings Symphony since his student days at Hastings College in the mid-1970s, and I am excited to bring him on board to share his ideas for music and concerts. We also welcome Vicki Krueger as the HSO's new Executive Secretary. This creative team, along with our Board of Directors, assures everyone a season of outstanding musical entertainment.

Double bass soloist, Dani Meier, performs on our October concert, and the South Central Nebraska Children's Chorale brings Christmas cheer to everyone in December. Winners of the high school Young Artist Competition allow us to preview the future, and in April, we feature regional personalities for a musical revue of stage and screen. As always our annual Chautauqua Park and Educational Outreach concerts are free offerings to the public.

For nine decades our mission to provide symphonic music at an affordable price has remained steadfast. Likewise, donors to the Hastings Symphony are an important cornerstone to our musical success. Our journey to a centennial season begins with you, so please encourage your family and friends to join our musical efforts.

A new decade for the Hastings Symphony Orchestra has begun. Come laugh, hear pleasurable music, and enjoy what we have to offer. Dave and I look forward to tickling your musical muse with Capriccio con Spirito - From Handel to Hammerstein!
